
Market sources are claiming that Sony is working on a new variant of their older generation Playstation 2 gaming console which would feature an internal power supply.
This version could be priced as little as USD 99 as the company would be able to cut costs by integrating the power converter inside the device itself.
Sony is currently offering the PS2 console for USD 129 in the US market.
Market analysts are also suggesting that the company could drop the price of the current PS2 to USD 99 for the upcoming holiday season.
They are failing to sell enough units of their latest Playstation 3 console and are facing huge losses. Microsoft and Nintendo are dominating the US market with sales of Xbox 360 and Wii gaming consoles.
